Tourism Locations

The newly launched recreational park built by the present governor of Lagos state, Mr Akinwumi Ambode is so fascinating and beautiful. I have taken time to write some reasons why you should visit Johnson Jakande Tinubu (JJT) Park.

It was built in honor of the past governors of Lagos state: Mobolaji Johnson, Lateef Jakande and Bola Ahmed Tinubu and it’s name was coined from their initials JJT(Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park)

Now, let’s explore the park.

Location: It is located at Alausa Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, next to the Lagos state house of Assembly. If you are not making use of Google map, get down at Ikeja, take a bus to secretariat and alight at the last bus stop, turn to your right and walk straight down. Then, Lagos state house of assembly is just opposite and JJT is next to it.

Time: The park opens 8am and closes 6pm daily and it’s open for weekends also.

Entrance fee: It’s absolutely free to access this beautiful park and it’s facilities.

Parking space: The park does not have a parking space within, however, you can make use of the parking space outside of the popular Ndubuisi park which is just a stone threw.

Facilities/Attraction within the park:

Free Wifi: Oh yeah! Right within the park you could access the internet, do some live videos and share instant pictures.

Lounge/Huts: There are several lounges located within the park for events like get together, outdoor meetings, birthday celebrations, and for relaxation in order to have a glimpse of nature

Children Playground: Along with the lounge, there are different facilities beautifully positioned for children to stretch their muscles and have fun within the playground.

Fountain: An artificial structure that sends water to the air is located within the park which is so fascinating and very beautiful for your pictures/photo shoot.

Food Court/Restaurant: For foodies like me, there is a place within the park where you could just cool your nerves and have a light meal and refreshment.

Game: Interestingly, you get to play games like Chess for free.

Bird viewing: A little bit of wildlife can be felt within the park, which means you have different species of birds positioned not too far from the entrance for sightseeing and to have a feel of nature.

Within the park, there is a statue of the popular Lagos state EYO festival and statues of the past governors, which is beautifully placed at the center of the park surrounded by all African countries flag with the giant of Africa flag “Nigeria” standing tall.
